Our Story

Boop!

Hi I’m Jan, the designer behind Boop Tags.

In early 2023, we welcomed a golden retriever pup into our family. As we adjusted to our new life as dog parents, I quickly realized that there are limited options for cute and stylish dog ID tags. I couldn’t find the perfect tag for Butters, so I decided to use my background in 3D Animation to create my own. I sketched some designs, created a 3D mock-up, and that’s when the very first Boop tag was born.

At the time, I just wanted to make a tag for my dog. By December 2023, I designed another tag for Butters’ friends—a golden retriever and a Samoyed—and decided to gift them to their dog moms for Christmas. They loved it!

I also shared the tags on my dog’s social media account, and it quickly gained a lot of attention. People loved the designs and began asking for tags for different breeds. That’s when I realized there was something special here.

After months of creating new designs, research and development, prototyping, and getting feedback from our testers, we launched our Kickstarter campaign in late May 2024 to fund the production of our tags. We were thrilled to reach our funding goal in just a few days! The process was challenging, but after two months of production, we successfully shipped all the tags to our backers in October 2024. We’ve continued to listen to customer feedback to improve our designs.

In November, we moved to a larger space to accommodate our growing business. Fast forward to January 2025, we are excited to officially launch Boop Tags, making our products available commercially—just one year after I designed the first tag for Butters.

Today, we offer over 40 breed designs, and we’re still expanding. We deeply value every bit of feedback we receive from our customers, and we’re committed to making our products even better. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us along the way. Thank you for being a part of this journey!

Meet the Team

 Jan, Designer

Jan designed the first Boop tag for their golden retriever Butters. I mean, who wouldn’t? With a handsome good boi like him, every dog mom would be proud to show off those good looks! She is also in charge of customer care support, so if there's ever an issue with your order, she's there to help you make it right.

Felix, Executive Assistant

Felix is in charge of laser engraving and all the magical techy stuff. He’s also in charge of packing and delivering the tags to our partner shipping company. So, if your order is ever missing a little extra paper wrap or ribbon, you know exactly who to blame! 😉

Butters, CEO

Don’t be fooled, the CEO actually stands for Cheese Expert Officer! You know that one co-worker who makes you question how they even got the job? Yep, that’s Butters. He sleeps during working hours and manages to eat the entire company snack stash. But hey, he gets away with it because of his pretty privilege!

Flory, Shadow Boss

Flory may have the cutest and most kissable face, but she's got a femme-fatale vibe. Yep, she’s the true Girl Boss around here! No one tells her what to do, not even Jan or Felix. She’s always on top of packaging quality checks, especially when it comes to boxes. And unlike Butters, she doesn’t use her good looks to beg for snacks —she just takes them!

Product Sourcing

We believe in being fully transparent and authentic about where we source our products.

All of our designs are created in-house at our studio. Once the designs are finalized, we send them to our manufacturing partner for production. They are responsible for creating the metal molds, electroplating, and providing the hardware for our tags.

Our manufacturing partner, based in China, has over a decade of industry experience. They adhere to Global Recycled Standards (GRS), consistently pass quality inspections, and holds multiple certifications. We only work with manufacturers who share our commitment to quality and ethical practices.

Once the tags are produced, we handle the finishing touches and laser engraving at our home-based studio in Canada. We prioritize sustainability by using biodegradable materials for packaging and limiting plastic usage, often reusing recycled boxes for shipping.

For shipping, we partner with Chit-Chats to offer the best rates for our Canadian and U.S. customers. We personally hand over all orders to ensure they are shipped with care.
